We developed a custom software solution for GMS NDT that integrates the management of technical testing, personnel, employee travel expenses, and field operations. It includes a robust web platform and two mobile applications designed to meet the demands of industrial fieldwork.
At GMS NDT, a company specialized in technical inspection services and non-destructive testing, the goal was to unify their operational processes into a single system. The objective was clear: to have a personalized digital platform that could manage everything from technical reports and human resources to mechanical testing, quotations, and employee travel expense control. At Elinous, we developed a robust and scalable system that meets each of these needs.
One of the main challenges was adapting the system to the real working conditions of GMS teams, who operate from laboratories to industrial plants across Chile. We designed a user experience focused on simplicity and functionality, including a mobile app for offline work and another specialized in travel expense reporting. Both applications allow for efficient and autonomous work from any location. We also provide 24/7 support during critical moments such as scheduled industrial maintenance.
The system is composed of three main layers that enable efficient, secure, and scalable operation.
The backend was developed using Laravel 8, a robust PHP framework that supports building a RESTful API with authentication via JWT (using tymon/jwt-auth) and Sanctum. This layer handles business logic, exports files in various formats (PDF, Excel, ZIP), and generates documents dynamically, with a modular structure that facilitates future expansions.
The web frontend was built using Angular 14 with Angular Material to deliver a professional, accessible, and responsive interface. Notable features include the assignment of dynamic questionnaire templates, hierarchical user control, real-time reporting, and management of materials and budgets linked to work orders. Libraries like html2canvas and jspdf were used for visual captures and in-browser document generation, along with ngx-editor for rich text editing and lodash for complex data operations.
The mobile applications were developed using Ionic with Capacitor, allowing for cross-platform hybrid apps. One app is focused on fieldwork and operates offline via a local database built with Dexie.js. It enables users to complete questionnaires, take pictures, record geolocation data, and sync information once connectivity is restored. The second app is designed for employee travel expense management.
The system is ready to be deployed on Linux servers with MySQL as the primary database, and is compatible with VPS or private cloud environments. Its modular architecture is designed to decouple services if higher performance is required, such as for mass report processing or advanced data analysis.
